Tarantula Fish Tacos Recipe
Here's a fun sustainable seafood recipe for the Halloween season. Enjoy!
"Tarantula" Fish Tacos
Makes about 6 spooky tacos.
“Tarantula” fish balls:
• 1 pound boneless catfish, halibut, whitefish, tilapia
• 1 teaspoon sea salt
• 2 tablespoons favorite Cajun or blackened spice mix
1) Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2) In food processor, puree fish and sea salt until just smooth.
3) Using hands, (if kids are involved in this step, they should wear plastic gloves for safety!) roll fish paste into balls about 1-inch thick.
4) Dredge fish balls lightly in spice mix and place on baking pan. Bake 20 to 30 minutes, until fish are cooked through. While fish are baking, prepare the guacamole and sour cream sauce.
Guacamole:
• 3 pounds ripe avocados, (about 7), pitted. peeled, and cut into chunks
• 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice, (about 3 limes)
• 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
• Coarse sea salt
• 1 fresh jalapeno chile, seeded and finely chopped, optional
• 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves
1) Put avocados, lime juice, 11/2 teaspoons salt and the pepper, salt, jalapeno, and cilantro in a plastic baggie. Close baggie and let kids mash everything together to make guacamole.
Sour cream sauce:
• 1 cup sour cream
• 1 tablespoon water or lime juice
1) Place sour cream 1 tablespoon liquid in plastic baggie and close. Let kids gently squeeze together to make sour cream sauce.
2) Make pastry bag out of baggie by cutting a very small edge of one of the corners off. This will be used to “pipe” the sour cream onto the tacos.
To assemble tacos:
• 6 corn or flour tortillas
• 1 can (15-ounce) pumpkin puree
• 1 batch “tarantula” fish balls
• 1 batch guacamole
• 1 batch sour cream sauce
1) Kids can help with the entire tacos assembly here! Place tacos on clean work surface. Spread 1 to 2 tablespoons of pumpkin puree on the bottom of each tortilla.
2) Place 1 to 2 tablespoons of guacamole along the middle of the tortilla, on top of the pumpkin puree.
3) Place two “tarantula” fish balls on top of the guacamole. Make spider legs and eyes using the sour cream pastry bag. Each spider gets eight legs and two eyes!
4) Enjoy!

I would try making them but I don't eat seafood.
